The Loading Region: A Framework for the Performance Evaluation of Admission Control Policies for High Speed Networks
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper proposes a simulation framework called the loading region for the performance evaluation of admission control policies for high speed networks. The loading region provides a means to assess the performance characteristics of an admission control policy in terms of its sensitivity to traac mix, traf-c characteristics, cell loss constraints, and cell delay constraints. The loading region also facilitates the direct comparison of diierent admission control policies , both graphically and quantitatively, with respect to these criteria. In this paper, three diierent admission control policies are evaluated using simulation to demonstrate the use of the loading region framework. Among the three policies evaluated, the Joint Scheduling and Admission Control policy is the most aggressive, and has the greatest sensitivity to QOS constraints.

The main solution to the problems of persistency and uniqueness in identification of digital objects in a web environment is provided by using digital identifiers instead of URL. The main basis of this solution is resolution mechanism that is used in digital identifier systems. Resolution is the use of indirect names instead of URLs; what worked for the DNS (Domain Name System) in stabilizing i...

In this paper, the author proposes a sensorless direct torque control (DTC) of an induction motor (IM) fed by seven-level NPC inverter using artificial neural networks (ANN) and fuzzy logic controller. Fuzzy PI controller is used for controlling the rotor speed and ANN applied in switching select stator voltage. The control method proposed in this paper can reduce the torque, stator flux and to...

Rate allocation has become a demanding task in data networks as diversity in users and traffics proliferate. Most commonly used algorithm in end hosts is TCP. This is a loss based scheme therefore it exhibits oscillatory behavior which reduces network performance. Moreover, since the price for all sessions is based on the aggregate throughput, losses that are caused by TCP affect other sessions...

The use of directional antennas in wireless ad hoc networks can significantly improve global performance due to a high spatial channel reuse. Nevertheless, its introduction poses new location dependent problems related to the MAC protocol. In this paper, the Balanced Incomplete Block Design theory has been exploited to develop a new MAC protocol for wireless ad hoc networks using directional ant...
